Sangeeta Mulay was born in India and moved to the United Kingdom in 2000. She writes for adults and children. Her novel, Obscenities, was shortlisted in the Virginia Prize for Fiction in 2026. Disobedient Women was highlighted by Manchester for the Gender Equality Sustainable Development goal as part of the 2023 UNESCO Cities of Literature Campaign. Her novel for young adults, Savitribai Phule and I, based on India’s feminist icon, was named one of the hundred best Indian fictional books by the Bombay Review. It was also included in a reading list for socially conscious Indian children by The Hindu and was featured as a book of the week in Firstpost. Her short stories have received honourable mentions and have been shortlisted in several anthologies. She has worked as a Technical Writer for several organisations in the UK. In her free time, she volunteers for NSPCC Childline as an Email Counsellor and is an avid traveller.
